I just started this one. I’m not loving the cover but I love reading books about people healing from tragedy. So I had to let the cover go. It sounds as though this book deals with some important issues like grief and disability. I’m excited to see how the author handles it especially considering the book is very short.
After Kai Olsen’s “perfect lover” dies in a cycling accident, Kai takes a part-time job teaching at a community college to fill his empty evenings. When Kai’s student, Adrian Knox, shows an interest in Kai, their lives quickly change. Adrian is dominated by his controlling mother, Kai can’t stop obsessing over his lost lover, and school policy says faculty members can’t date students. Does love between Kai and Adrian stand a chance?
HOT ASSET by Lauren Layne
Another book I’ve barely started. I got the NetGalley approval for this an embarrassingly long time ago and kind of forgot about it. But there’s something nice about a man in a suit, isn’t there?
Ian Bradley is the definition of a Wall Street hotshot: seven-figure salary, designer suits, and a corner office. His drive off the floor is just as potent. Every woman who knows him has felt the rush. But now he’s met his match in Lara McKenzie—a woman with the power to bring Ian to his knees.
An ambitious, whip-smart daughter of FBI agents, Lara is a rising star in fighting white-collar crime. Her latest case—the investigation of Ian Bradley for insider trading—could make her career. She knows a scoundrel when she sees one. Ian fits the bill: a cocky, ridiculously handsome bad boy with a slick swagger.
She’ll do anything to prove he’s guilty. He’ll do anything to prove he’s not. But it’s only a matter of time before their fierce battle of wits gets oh so hot and personal. Now, taking down Ian has become more than business for Lara. It’s become a pleasure—and there’s more at risk than she ever dreamed.
What did you recently finish reading?
BENEATH YOUR BEAUTIFUL by Emery Rose and THE SURVIVING GIRLS by Katee Robert I read because I signed up for blog tours. I didn’t love either of them but I guess that’s how things go sometime.
THE LAST PATRIOT by Brad Thor Sometimes it’s nice to read a book without the pressure of reviewing. It was a super engaging book. I had a hard time putting it down and needed to know what would happen next.
What do you think you’ll read next?
A MARSHAL’S PROMISE by Michelle Beattie
A publisher sent me this book, and well I have a thing for cowboy hats…
SCOTLAND OR BUST by Kira Archer
This is a first for me. I don’t like the guy. But, the girl looks like she’d be super fun. So I’m reading this book hoping to find a new book-bestfriend.
So how has this week been for you? Have you read anything interesting, are there any books you’re excited to read?
