His Pawn is a delightfully conflicting tale, that introduces us to Senator Sexy-Ass, also known as Graham, and Elle, a Senator’s daughter.

The media calls him the “sexy senator.”
Cold, wickedly handsome, and too cocky for his own good, he gets what he wants with filthy promises and a smirk.
I had no plan to be that girl.
But that was before he found out my secret.
Before he made me a proposition—one semester. Anything goes. And my problem would go away.
“I’m a politician, Ms. Courtney. Twisting the truth is in my DNA.”
I should have left when he said that.
I didn’t. Because I couldn’t get enough of the way he possessed my soul, my heart, my body.
My name is Elle Courtney, but Graham Delaney—he called me his dove. He should have called me his pawn.
Have you seen that cover? Phew, I’d probably let my hubby be a jerk sometimes too if he looked like that.
I didn’t want to give this book 5 stars. I got angry so many time as I was reading this, I even tried to slam my Kindle shut – more than once. But, it loses a certain dramatic flare when it’s not a physical book.
In the very beginning of this book, we get acquainted with Senator Sexy-Ass, as far as nicknames go, this one is spot on. Seriously, he’s a senator, he’s damn sexy, and he is an ass (even for a politician). I hated him, well I wanted to hate him. He was an unapologetic jerk. Thing is, he didn’t pretend to be anything else.
He demanded what he wanted and assumed the answer would be yes. I got about halfway through this book and was prepared to go on a rant about consent. He was so demanding. Don’t get me wrong it was a little hot, but a little much. Then we get to a part when she says no, and he concedes. He says he will someday, but doesn’t push the matter any further. I didn’t even realize it was possible, but he became so much more attractive.
Which brings me to my first issue with the book. I don’t follow politics, I can’t name politicians, but the ones I do see the odd time I watch TV aren’t exactly what I would consider attractive. So I took to Google and searched for “sexy politicians.” Here’s what I found. Enjoy!
*** Aside from Trudeau (because I’m Canadian and don’t live under a rock) I have no idea who these guys are. But, Google tells me they’re politicians and I’m sure the internet would never lie.
Now that we’ve had our fill of sexy politicians, there’s something else we need to talk about. Without spoiling anything, Graham does something I really didn’t like. I’m not sure I fully forgave him for it.
I wanted to think of Elle as naïve. But, she sees Grahams offer for what it was, an opportunity to indulge in down and dirty fucking. As the daughter of a politician, she is well aware of how conniving and manipulative people can be. What struck me though was how she always did the right thing. She never thought twice about it even when it was detrimental to herself.
One thing I appreciated was the way the author handled the topic of sexy photos. It was refreshing that none of the blame was directed at the victim. Enjoying sex isn’t something to be ashamed of. Having evidence of such enjoyment, between consenting adults, shouldn’t be shameful either. So thank you, Ms. Snow, for handling it in such an empowering way.
Overall, His Pawn is a well-written and engaging read. I’d recommend it to anyone who appreciates good dirty talk and is looking for something steamy to keep them company in the evenings.
