If you haven’t gathered by now I love to write. When I’m not writing I can usually be found with my head in a book completly engrossed in the story line. I can’t help it these book worlds are so much more interesting then the one I live in. I’m a sucker for good falling in love story and I live for the happily ever after.
Vi Keeland is one of my ALL TIME favorite authors. I absolutely loved this book. The men in her books are always confident and upfront without being vulger and giving off a creepy vibe and Sex, not Love is no exception. I have no idea how she does it, truth be told I stop reading books all the time because one of the characters is too pushy or forward and it makes me feel uneasy. I appreciate tasteful dirty talk and that’s something Vi’s books always deliver. Don’t get me wrong Hunter is forward but it’s feels sweet and respectful. I absolutely love a book-boyfriend who knows what he wants and isn’t afraid to go get it.
I couldn’t put this book down and I think there was a goofy grin on my face the whole time. The chemistry between Hunter and Natalia was intense and I couldn’t wait for them to finally give in to eachother. While the book was sweet, silly and engaging it dealt with bigger issues that affect relationships. Issues that many writers wouldn’t try to conquer. Vi managed to go there and not trivilize a very real, very touchy issue. I laughed a lot, I mean what kind of girl gives a guy her moms phone number? What kind of guy wins her mom over? I know, right? Swoon. You know he’s special when mom approves.
The characters were well developed and relatible. Every action, every decision they made felt just like something my friends or I would have done. The twist was unexpected and very well written. I laughed with the characters, I had to fight back tears. To be honest, there’s not a whole lot I would change.
I think a tell tale sign of a good book is when you feel like you’re a part of the story and invested. That was absolutely the case with this one. I stayed up until almost 2:00 AM trying to finish this book. Typically I skim a lot when I read but I found myself invested enough that I wanted to read every word on the page, I just didn’t want this book to end.
This is the first book I’ve read from L. L. Shen so I’m not sure what to expect. I know they say, ‘don’t judge a book by it’s cover’ but how can you see this cover and not want to read the book? I mean, the description is good too but that cover… man. I love me a good asshole to sweetheart story, and a strong heroin who doesn’t put up with his crap. I truly believe that bad behaviour is learnt as a means of self preservation. There’s nothing I enjoy more then seeing the walls crumble, watching as they take a chance and let someone in. It always makes me happy when the characters trust and confide in eachother, it’s just them against the world.
Yes, I’m one of those people who thinks everyone is nice by nature, everyone wants to be nice and if they aren’t there must be a very compelling reason. I for one can not wait to learn what Alex’s reason is. I’m really excited to read this book.
If you’ve read many of my stroies, and you probably haven’t since I’ve just started this blog you’ll know that I absolutely love seeing awkwardness turn into love. Haven’t we all be absolutely mortified at some point in our lives? Wouldn’t it be great if those embarassing things lead to happily ever afters? If yours did, seriously, please tell me about it.
From the summary it sounds like there’s a hole in the wall and the new girls sexy neighbour has been able to hear everything she’s been talking about in her room. I’m blushing on her behalf. Whether you have phone counselling secessions or your calling yout BFF to vent about your day there’s an inherant expectation of privacy especially in the bedroom. I can not wait to see how this relationship developes.
If you’ve read any of these books I would love to hear your thoughts. I’m sure you all know the struggle of picking out a good book, so help a woman out and give me some suggestions. What books have you enjoyed lately? As always it would mean the world to me if you could like me on Facebook and follow me on Twitter.
